Muga
Muga publishes essays, theory and writing on photography, focusing on imaginative and unpublished works by contemporary authors with their own voices and thoughts. Stepping away from the rigid character of academicism, their books provide new perspectives on different topics within critical thinking, making them available through careful editions aimed at readers interested in the artistic and cultural value of photography. They offer knowledge about the image in an accessible language, careful editorial design and at a fair price.
They perform their editorial work from the periphery, far from the center. They dedicate an exclusive and extensive amount of time to each title they publish because they think that making meaningful books requires all their attention and affection. They work without rushing.
Between October 2016 and January 2020 they published 40 issues of Pewen Cuadernos de Fotografía, a collection of photography books with a careful selection of works by authors from Spain, Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Portugal, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil and Guatemala.
In 2019 they founded LUR, a digital publication specialized in research, critical analysis and interdisciplinary study of the image and its uses in visual culture and contemporary creation. That same year they created the LUR Award for Essays on Photography.
