This catalogue includes images of the works which compose the exhibition “Babelia & Other Stories” by the artist Stella Rahola Matutes, held at the Museo Can Mario in 2019. It also includes texts written by leading figures in the field of contemporary art. Thus, this is a contemporary art catalogue which recalls the aforementioned exhibition and allows for it to be enjoyed again at home.
“Babelia & Other Stories” gathers the last works by architect and sculptor Stella Rahola Matutes (Barcelona, 1980). Curated by Glòria Bosch and Mercè Vila, the exhibition rearticulates, through its constant technical study, the different points of resistance and limitations of various materials, especially of porcelain, glass and metal.
The architect’s oeuvre becomes a construction which transmutes the limits of form, and the kind of resistance she seeks rebels itself by means of an eclosion, as if the engendered object would be left to hang in the air as an attempt to immortalise, like a frozen image, the cenit of its most absolute beauty and, thus, it could be manifested in a state of total equilibrium.
