Why is Orozco’s work still relevant? As a play between temporalities, this catalogue of the exhibition José Clemente Orozco: Final Cut – held at the Arizona State University Art Museum in 2021 – revisits the late production of one of the greatest exponents of muralism in Mexico and beyond, accounting for the complexity of his creative processes and providing fresh discussions on this period of the artist’s career. Accompanied by a selection of unpublished materials from his personal archive, it also celebrates the painter’s echoes in contemporary artistic practices in Guadalajara, where his imprint is still inescapable today.
