“Miró i els poetes catalans” is part of the series of books that Enciclopedia has previously dedicated to the great names of 20th century Catalan art, such as Picasso or Dalí. In this case, the protagonist is one of our most universal, valued and quoted painters. And the way to approach is a book of books, a compilation of all the works Miró did with Catalan poets: J.V. Foix, Salvador Espriu, Joan Brossa, Salvat-Papasseit…. In many cases, of those collaborations very short editions were made, so, having managed to gather them all in a single volume is an extraordinary editorial and cultural initiative, as well as a unique opportunity to know a largely unpublished material.
“Miró i els poetes catalans” is a numbered edition, limited to 1,500 copies, consisting of a large-format book and a study book in a slipcase.
The project has been directed by Vicenç Altaió, one of the leading experts on the painter, and has counted with the close collaboration of Joan Miró’s successors, the Joan Miró Foundation in Barcelona and the Pilar and Joan Miró Foundation in Palma.
