On October 1, 2017, the 68th anniversary of the creation of the People’s Republic of China was commemorated. At that time, Antoni Muntadas (Barcelona, 1942) was completing his Asian Protocols project (Similarities, differences and conflicts 2011-2018), which had linked him to China. And so, during that first of October, he dedicated himself to identifying and compiling images and graphic elements in which the color red, the “national” color of China, was predominant.

The Red project, which arises from this compilation, is materialized in the context of ArtsLibris with the publication of a collection of postcards which bring together a selection of the images that Muntadas made on that October 1st, and in which he contrasts some of the aspects most related to the spectacle and banality of capitalism, and the color red, an identifying element of communism par excellence.
