A very personal photographic journey to strange paradises frozen in time.
This publication brings together six photographic projects of journeys made between 2012 and 2017 in Istanbul, Cairo, Delhi, Brazil, Tokyo and Jaipur.
In them, time disappears, but leaves a trace, a wound, a notch. From the desolate winter stays of Istanbul, the urban voids and human remains of Cairo, the men trapped in their gazes in Delhi, the bones and skins of dead cows in Brazil, the sumo wrestlers of Tokyo and the superimposed paintings on the walls of Jaipur.
Perhaps the photographer’s sharpest talent is, in the words of the prologue writer Ray Loriga, “finding the trace of time in his photographs. The stubborn permanence of that which was and still is, like the resentment of memory”.
