The Mediterranean: A Round Sea

The Mediterranean Sea is round; so is the skirt of a whirling dervish, the repeated gyration of a flamenco dancer’s wrist, the shape of a traditional Greek dance, a fruit basket in a street market, a lifeboat in the middle of the sea (the flip side of convivencia). So are the sun and the moon. Everything that exists in the cosmos operates in circular motions and patterns. A circle has no baseline. It has no right or left, bottom or top. It rolls. What goes around comes around.
Downside up and sideways networks are what this “little” book (and the exhibition from which it stems) are aiming to mobilise in a bid to instigate a meeting point for shared intensities.

El mar Mediterráneo es redondo; también lo es la falda de un derviche giróvago, la reiterada rotación de la muñeca de una bailaora de flamenco, la forma de una danza griega tradicional, una cesta de frutas en un mercado callejero, un bote salvavidas en medio del mar (la otra cara de la convivencia). También lo son el sol y la luna. Todo lo que existe en el cosmos opera en movimientos y patrones circulares. Un círculo no tiene una base. No tiene derecha ni izquierda, ni abajo ni arriba. Rueda. Todo vuelve.
Este “pequeño” libro (y la exposición de la que surge) intentan propiciar un punto de encuentro para intensidades compartidas.
