Eduardo Abaroa is a Mexican artist and writer who works in the fields of sculpture, installation and live-action. His work seeks to activate problems and pose enigmas or challenges whether political, intellectual or aesthetic with a critical approach. Ensayos sobre el público brings together a series of performances, actions and texts, as well as approaches to the sculptural and video work produced throughout his career. The group manages to denote his research into confusion and absurdity by exalting the contradictions and nonsense of conflicts and banal circumstances.
This volume inaugurates the Antithesis Collection of Alias publishing house, made up of original projects developed by different artists, especially for this series. The name “antithesis” comes from the understanding of art as a dynamic of reflection that constantly questions itself. “I want to present myself as astonished at my own incoherence, semi-converted and crushed. I like to feel like a sphincter bag that opens and closes all the time and from which words and unconnected ideas come out. My head is the bedroom where several couples of dogs mechanically fornicate. But it’s time for dinner.“ -EA
