Intervention in the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion.
This book represents the conclusion of the artistic research project Transient Senses, based on the German Pavilion designed by Mies van der Rohe. Through a sound installation in the pavilion and experimentation with video, audio, and text, exhibited together in the Fundació Antoni Tàpies, Alex Arteaga explores the formation of the concepts of interiority and exteriority in architecture. The book includes a general description of the project and its context, the text essays ‘one’ and ‘two’, the links to the sound essay, the video essay, the video documenting the research seminar, and finally the photographs by Thomas Vilhem that, rather than documenting the process, constitute by themselves a new way to guide the research process. Alex Arteaga (1972, Barcelona. He lives in Berlin). He studied piano, music theory, composition and architecture in Barcelona and Berlin. He is currently an associate researcher at the Collegium for the Advanced Study of Picture Act and Embodiment at Humboldt University in Berlin, guest lecturer for the aesthetics and theories of the modality at the Master of Arts in Choreography at the Inter-University Center for Dance Berlin, guest lecturer for sound art at the Film School of Catalonia (Barcelona), as well as a researcher at the Social Sculpture Research Unit at Oxford Brookes University.
