Los manuscritos del Fongus

Jis’ Los manuscritos del Fongus  was originally published by Colomos in 1983. It is a compilation of a series of comic strips that the Mexican cartoonist delivered periodically to the supplement Másomenos of the newspaper Uno más uno in 1981, at the invitation of the cartoonist Bulmaro Castellanos (Magú).

At the age of just sixteen, Jis created these fables and short legends that marked a starting point for his explosive career in Mexican cartooning. It is a drawing that is still hesitant but brimming with freshness,” says Bernardo Fernandez (Bef). One can guess an experimental spirit, where Jis will have to find his metaphysical humour, small episodes of dreamlike atmosphere with great affinity for the absurd and nonsense”.
