Mysterious Skin

Chinese artist Lin Zhipeng, aka No. 223, presents a series of playful, sensual images in his photobook “Mysterious Skin,” published on the occasion of the exhibition of the same name at Stieglitz19 Gallery in Antwerp in September 2023. Since the beginning of his career, when he published photographs under the Wong Kar Wai-inspired pseudonym No. 223 on his blog North Latitude 23, Zhipeng’s work has only continued to grow in depth and complexity. Through seemingly spontaneous still lifes, carefully arranged nudes and portraits, “Mysterious Skin” depicts eroticism, intimacy, fleeting feelings and a vulnerable sense of sentimentality with eloquence and willful experimentation.
