groups<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"1046-1047\">began<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"791\">to\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"1048-1049-791\">record<\/span>\u00a016 mm footage of everything that was\u00a0<span id=\"1050-1051\">happening<\/span>\u00a0around them.<\/span><span id=\"p763\"><span id=\"p763-pv\">\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"979-980-p763-pv\">Camera<\/span><span id=\"p763-pv\">\u00a0in\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"981-982-p763-pv\">hand<\/span><span id=\"p763-pv\">,\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"775-p763-pv\">they<\/span><span id=\"p763-pv\">\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"1054-1055-p763-pv\">entered<\/span><span id=\"p763-pv\">\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"983-984-p763-pv\">factories<\/span><span id=\"p763-pv\">, documented strikes,\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"1056-1057-793-p763-pv\">went<\/span><span id=\"793-p763-pv\">\u00a0into<\/span><span id=\"p763-pv\">\u00a0shantytowns and\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"985-p763-pv\">neighborhoods<\/span><span id=\"p763-pv\">, filmed protests, and\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"1058-1059-p763-pv\">recorded<\/span><span id=\"p763-pv\">\u00a0the police repression that\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"1052-1053-p763-pv\">took place<\/span><span id=\"p763-pv\">\u00a0at such\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"986-987-p763-pv\">demonstrations<\/span><span id=\"p763-pv\">.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"p764\">\u00a0In\u00a0<span id=\"988-989\">addition<\/span>,\u00a0<span id=\"776\">they<\/span>\u00a0got together in\u00a0<span id=\"990-991\">organizations<\/span>\u00a0through which\u00a0<span id=\"777\">they<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"1060\">articulated<\/span>\u00a0their own production and dissemination structures from the\u00a0<span id=\"992-993\">margins<\/span>\u00a0of the industrial regime and\u00a0<span id=\"802\">thus<\/span>\u00a0avoiding censorship.<\/span><span id=\"p765\">\u00a0As such, these\u00a0<span id=\"1061-1062-794\">were<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"803\">clandestine<\/span>\u00a0cinematographic practices that\u00a0<span id=\"1063\">confronted<\/span>\u00a0the Francoist\u00a0<span id=\"p761\">(<span id=\"974-975\">visibility<\/span>)<\/span>\u00a0regime.<\/span><span id=\"p1085\">\u00a0However, clandestinity did not always mean hiding, and it also meant exposing oneself as a challenge and as part of a strategy of a political struggle that took place at the level of the sensible, and in which the power of clandestinity was precisely its condition as a borderline between the visible and the invisible, the legal and the illegal, the possible and the impossible.<\/span><span id=\"p767\">\u00a0Its\u00a0<span id=\"1007-1008\">aim<\/span>\u00a0was then to\u00a0<span id=\"1068-1069-796\">show<\/span>\u00a0many of the\u00a0<span id=\"1009-1010\">realities<\/span>\u00a0that cinema,\u00a0<span id=\"1011-1012\">TV,<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<span id=\"773\" class=\"s-rg-t\">NO-DO<\/span>\u00a0excluded from the official circulation of\u00a0<span id=\"1013-1014\">images<\/span>:<\/span><span id=\"p768\"><span id=\"p768-pl\">\u00a0the\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"1015-1016-p768-pl\">organization<\/span><span id=\"p768-pl\">\u00a0of the\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"1017-1018-p768-pl\">people<\/span><span id=\"p768-pl\">, the\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"1019-1020-p768-pl\">repression<\/span><span id=\"p768-pl\">\u00a0of the State, as\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"1021-1022-p768-pl\">well<\/span><span id=\"p768-pl\">\u00a0as the\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"1023-1024-p768-pl\">memories<\/span><span id=\"p768-pl\">\u00a0of the War that\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"1070-1071-p768-pl\">emerged<\/span><span id=\"p768-pl\">\u00a0in the\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"1025-p768-pl\">transition period<\/span><span id=\"p768-pl\">\u00a0and which, little by little,\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"1072-1073-797-p768-pl\">formed<\/span><span id=\"p768-pl\">\u00a0a valuable archive of image-testimonies.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"p769\">\u00a0The\u00a0<span id=\"1026-1027\">way<\/span>\u00a0in which these\u00a0<span id=\"1028-1029\">groups<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"1074-1075-798\">worked<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"1076-1077-792\">reveals<\/span><span id=\"792\">\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"784-792\">that<\/span><span id=\"792\">\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"786-792\">this<\/span><span id=\"792\">\u00a0was not just a\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"1030-1031-792\">cinema<\/span><span id=\"792\">\u00a0of political content<\/span>, but\u00a0<span id=\"785\">that<\/span>\u00a0it set politics into\u00a0<span id=\"1032-1033\">action<\/span>.<\/span><span id=\"p770\">\u00a0<span id=\"787\">This<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"1034-1035\">action<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"782-799\">also<\/span>\u00a0included the collective need to\u00a0<span id=\"1078-1079\">produce<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"1036-1037\">images<\/span>\u00a0that would\u00a0<span id=\"783\">also<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"800\">leave<\/span>\u00a0a\u00a0<span id=\"1038-1039\">record<\/span>\u00a0of the memorable.<\/span><span id=\"p1086\">\u00a0From this counter-informative and archival intuition to the effects, it had on the people who attended clandestine screenings, this book covers the different facets of forgotten filmmaking practice, but one that is key to understanding the imaginaries of an era whose narrative is still in dispute
