The Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Jove Foundation publishes the monographic edition of the artist June Crespo (Pamplona, \u200b\u200b1982). The publication initiates a new editorial format linked to the Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Jove Foundation International Art Award, with which the institution intends to influence its commitment to supporting artists, studying their work and viewing it.<\/p>\n
The monograph, which reviews the artist’s career from her beginnings to the present, contains texts by Chus Mart\u00ednez, curator and researcher and director of the Art Institute of the Basel Academy of Art and Design, and an extensive conversation between June Crespo and Susana Gonz\u00e1lez, curator, cultural manager and director of the Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Jove Foundation Art Collection.<\/p>\n
June Crespo’s artistic practice is largely identified with sculpture, where she develops a language based on procedures such as collage or assemblage and on the experimental use of images. The starting point of her work are those bonds of an affective and dialectical nature that are established between forms and functional objects that challenge her from her closest environment. Intuition will be the trigger to digest interests and concerns of different kinds, without these being shown explicitly or in a premeditated way in the initial conception of the work.<\/p>\n
His language, which refers to the body and its relational capacity, interferes with the way objects are read, releasing their associative potential, in a process that involves establishing a series of relationships that range from the combination, reconfiguration or ordering of the different parts until the incorporation of the procedural contingencies, such as the fragment, the breakage, the imperfection or the trace.<\/p>\n
June Crespo graduated in Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country in 2005. Among the artistic residencies carried out are: De Ateliers, Amsterdam, Holland, between 2014 and 2017, or IASPIS, Stockholm, Sweden, in 2014. Her works are part of important collections such as the collection of the Reina Sof\u00eda Museum, the Dos de Mayo Art Center (CA2M) or the Artium Museum. Among her most recent individual exhibitions are No Osso, in the Uma Certa Lack of Coer\u00eancia space in Porto (2019); Ser dos, at the CarrerasMugica Gallery in Bilbao (2017); Chance Album n\u00ba1, at the etHALL Gallery in Barcelona (2016) or Kanala, at MARCO in Vigo (2016).<\/p>\n
To the VII Fundaci\u00f3n M\u00aa Jos\u00e9 Jove International Art Award (2019), are added the RNE Critical Eye Award (2018), the Bot\u00edn Foundation Plastic Arts Scholarship (2018) and the Gure Artea Award (2013).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
