Quin impacte t\u00e9 la novel\u00b7la de l&#8217;artista en les arts visuals? Com ha d&#8217;experimentar-se una novel\u00b7la d&#8217;aquest tipus? En els \u00faltims anys, han proliferat els artistes visuals que creen novel\u00b7les com a part de la seva pr\u00e0ctica art\u00edstica m\u00e9s \u00e0mplia. Ho fan per a abordar q\u00fcestions art\u00edstiques mitjan\u00e7ant dispositius novel\u00b7l\u00edstics, afavorint un tipus d&#8217;art basat en el proc\u00e9s i la subjectivitat, i introduint nocions com a ficci\u00f3, narrativa i imaginaci\u00f3. En aquest sentit, \u00e9s possible veure la novel\u00b7la com un nou mitj\u00e0 en les arts visuals; no obstant aix\u00f2, se sap molt poc sobre ella. Aquesta publicaci\u00f3 en dos volums \u00e9s la primera que explora en profunditat el tema de la novel\u00b7la d&#8217;artista.<\/p>\n<p>La primera part,<em> A new medium<\/em>, \u00e9s un examen te\u00f2ric que analitza de manera cr\u00edtica les diferents formes en qu\u00e8 els artistes contemporanis empren la novel\u00b7la d&#8217;artista, centrant-se principalment en quatre estudis de cas clau: Acaroni Radi de Benjamin Seror, Collapsing in Parts de CallySpooner, The Crystal Frontier de Mai-Thu Perret i Headless de Goldin+Senneby. Tracta de situar la novel\u00b7la de l&#8217;artista en el context m\u00e9s ampli de les arts visuals amb l&#8217;esperan\u00e7a de suscitar un debat molt necessari sobre una pr\u00e0ctica que ha estat ignorada durant molt de temps pels corrents cr\u00edtics del discurs art\u00edstic.
